Description

As a Team Leader/AC-DC Power Supply Design Engineer you will be driving innovative product design and execution from concept investigation and design analysis to successful production execution; that includes - design analysis, modeling & simulations, schematic/BOM generation, PCB layout, DFM, prototype developments, tests & validations, qualification, safety/REL certifications and taking product to production. The candidate must be hands-on power supply circuit designer and be able to design power supplies.

You will also:

  • Select best design option for power metric performance optimization including but not limited to efficiency, power density, cost, reduced carbon foot print and scalability.
  • Lead Power supply design concept definition in collaboration with cross-functional team
  • Provide design simulation, calculations and analytical models for prediction of design concept outcome
  • Provide design risk assessments, mitigation plans, development lessons learned and proof of concepts
  • Provide design Schematic and BOM; Work with layout team for power supply layouts. Conduct design and layout reviews with cross-functional teams. Adhere to robust design methodologies for successful project execution.
  • Provide prototypes and test and validation results, document multi-dimensional activities. Hands-on work in lab is must.
  • Keep abreast of state-of-the are technologies and perform competitive bench-marking for each project.
  • Provide technical support for production issues debug and resolutions.
  • Conduct power supply seminars and training for cross-functional teams.
  • Spear-head innovation thru exemplary behavior and team work.

Key Qualifications

  • Candidate must have hands-on experience with power supply design and possess deep knowledge of offline conversion topologies including Flyback, Forward, Buck-Boost, ZVS, PFC, resonant converters, LLC and analog/digital controls loops.
  • Candidate must be intimately familiar with power supply safety and environmental certifications, offline controllers, components, magnetic design, power supply layout and state-of the art techniques for efficiency optimizations including no load/light load efficiency techniques.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to guide critical decisions.
  • Must possess good understanding of thermals, mechanical and packaging challenges. Must also possess knowledge of high volume manufacturing technologies and production variances.
  • Working Knowledge with regulatory standards (not limited to) UL/IEC60601-1 Medical Electrical Equipment, UL 1310 Class 2 Power Units, UL 60950-1 Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements, CISPR 15 & CISPR 22. IEC 61000 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Proficiency with analog & digital circuit design, as well as microcontroller architecture, hardware design and schematic capture.
  • Proficient with lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Must be highly motivated, a self-starter with innovation, and have high integrity and the ability to pay attention to details.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams is extremely important.
  • Proven track record of working in fast-paced innovative work environment.
  • Ideal candidate has worked in the power supply industry.
  • Must be willing to travel overseas periodically as needed.
  • At least ten (10) years of hands-on experience in power electronics design.

Education

BSEE in power electronics with 10 years experience. Advanced degree preferred. Must have board level Design Experience. Relocation expenses may be covered for the right candidate

Leading candidate profile:
