Senior design Engineer for AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies, chargers, and Battery packs (Northvale, NJ 07647)

Job Description:

GlobTek, Inc., provider of world-class power solutions, seeks a Senior design Engineer for our NJ Design Center working with innovative solutions for power supplies, battery systems, battery chargers, and power cables.

Summary:

This position will require electrical engineering proficiency in the design, development, evaluation and analysis of power supplies, battery chargers and battery systems, for OEM customers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of power supply products from concept to volume production whilst ensuring that the design meets performance specifications, cost & reliability targets.
  • Determine customer requirements making cost-effective, innovative recommendations in the selection and application of GlobTek products.
  • Design and qualify new products to applicable regulatory and international safety standards for ITE and medical devices
  • Correspond with customers and the sales organization through verbal and written communication in response to customer requests for product use information including: Specifications, capabilities, compatibility, interface and general technology.
  • Provide technical expertise in new basic product design and modification of existing products

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 10 years’ minimum experience in electrical engineering background
  • Must have 5-8 years minimum experience with Switched Mode Power Supplies
  • Solid English language speaking skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must have a professional presence in person and in writing
  • Ability to work and handle multiple projects and tasks.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

  • Design of DC/DC, AC/DC switch mode power supplies utilizing various electrical topologies.
  • Provide technical expertise in new basic product design and modification of existing products
  • Magnetic design, calculation and manufacturing knowledge, as well as insulation systems and standards
  • Working with cross functional teams (PCB layout, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality engineering) to facilitate the design process.
  • Liaising with manufacturing locations during development and product EVT, DVT phases
  • Selection components and suppliers based on product performance specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and Evaluation of new technologies.
  • Participate in internal design reviews.
  • Review design verification and validation test results.
  • Engineering Change Order/Notice generation.
  • Electrical design of new and modified products, ensure products designs are cost effective and design for manufacturing.
  • Performs reliability calculations and reports e.g. MTBF.
  • Responsible for root cause analysis on products, technical problems and documentation
  • Very good mathematical and analytical skills
  • Customer Support and direct communication
