UKCA mark for power supplies, ac adapters, now available for IEC/BS62368 (Information communication equipment and power supplies), IEC/BS60601 (Medical power supplies), IEC/BS61558 and IEC/BS60335 (Household use power supplies)

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking that will be used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking.  The UKCA marking can be used from 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, you will still be able to use the CE marking until 1 January 2022 in most cases. In some cases it will be necessary to apply the new UKCA marking to goods being sold in Great Britain immediately from 1 January 2021.

Power supplies and AC Adapters are governed by the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations 2016 which require them to meet certain standards for safety and EMI. The standards are similar to the European equivalents. GlobTek power supplies and AC adapters meet the above listed regulations in the UK as well as most IEC, CE, and National regulations and directives for ICT, medical, and Household use power supplies.

Effective production date codes starting in mid-September 2020, GlobTek products will bear the UKCA mark in anticipation of products needing to be sent to the United Kingdom. Hyperlinks to UKCA declarations are available inside product specifications as well as on all UKCA certified power supply and ac dc adapter model web pages.

  • It should be noted that the UKCA marking alone cannot be used for goods placed on the Northern Ireland market, which will also require the CE marking. GlobTek power supplies and AC Adapters have both the UKCA and CE marking to ensure seamless compliance in the region.
